Ohio Gubernatorial Candidate Jim Renacci Picks Up Support from Two Ohio-Based Conservative Groups

Two Ohio-based conservative groups, the Greater Toledo Right to Life (GTRL) and The Northwest Ohio Conservative Coalition (NWOCC), opted to endorse Ohio gubernatorial candidate Jim Renacci and Lt. Governor candidate Joe Knopp.

The two organizations selected the GOP challengers over incumbent Governor Mike DeWine and Lt. Governor Jon Husted, according to a release from Renacci.

The Greater Toledo Right to Life is a pro-life group that seeks to “educate our fellow citizens about the objective truth of the value of every human life.”

“We have endorsed Jim Renacci for governor, we like Jim for his record and stances on protecting LIFE and will do everything we can to help elect him governor,” said Ed Sitter of GTRL.

Furthermore, the NWOCC  is a Political Action Committee (PAC) that supports “constitutionally limited government as outlined by our Founding Fathers.”

According to the latest disclosures with the Federal Election Commission, the group has spent close to $4,000 over the past year and has roughly $1,200 cash on hand.

“We feel Jim Renacci will help promote fiscal responsibility and conservative principles in Ohio state government. His private-sector business experience was a real factor in our endorsement, as we need a governor who understands the importance of especially small businesses and entrepreneurs in Ohio,” added Linda Bowyer, chair of the NWOCC board.

Renacci welcomed the support as he seeks to upset DeWine.

“I take each of these endorsements very seriously, with gratitude and a commitment to uphold the conservative values that will make Ohio great again. Conservatives across Ohio are mobilizing to bring the right leadership to our state,” the candidate said in an emailed release.

In recent weeks, the former congressman has hammered DeWine over allegations relating to the former chairman of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) and the FirstEnergy corruption scandal.
